NOVELTY FRIED TOMATOES Four tomatoes, one egg, quar-ter-cup of milk, fine dry. bread- , crumbs, toast, a; little, white sauce. Choose medium-sized •. tomatoes, wash and dry them. Then slice crosswise to make three thick pieces. Dust with salt, pepper, arid a little sugar, and roll in fine dry crumbs. Beat the egg, add the milk, and dip the'tomato slices in this. Then dip again in crumbs and fry in deep fat, hot enough to brown a bit of bread in- one minute. Drain the tomatoes on crumpled paper and serve on toast with white sauce, ORANGE FOOL Stir over the fire in a sauce the juice of four oranges, three beaten eggs, two cups milk, a good pinch nutmeg and cinnamon, and half-cup sugar, till ■ they are as thick as thick cream.
