NEW FIRE HAZARD

HOT CINDERS ON ROADSIDE EMPTIED FROM GAS PRODUCERS (Per United Press Association; WELLINGTON, Nov. 5. Advice that fires have been started by hot cinders emptied by motorists on the roadside from gas producers has been received by the Minister of Transport (Mr R. Semple). “The road surface is likely to be damaged, and the tar seal may even be ignited,” said Mr Semple m a statement issued to-day. “ Cinders should not be dumped on bitumen or any part of the roadside from which a Are might spread, or near native bush or pine trees.”
