MEET AT NORTH TAIERI RED CROSS EFFORT Favoured by ideal weather conditions, the weekly run of the Otago Hunt was held on Saturday afternoon at North Taieri over the properties of Mrs A. K. Miller and Messrs D. Connor and J. Skinner. There was an excellent turnout of followers, and. although the going was heavy in places, the jumping was of a high standard. There was an extra large number of spectators, and a very satisfactory sum was raised for the funds of the local Red Cross Committee. Those who followed the hounds included; —The master (Mr J. E. Brunton): the deputy master (Mr W. Muirhead) on Donegal; the huntsman (Mr R. Harvey) on Blackthorne; the whip (Mr T. Dillon) on Samson; the honorary whips (Mr K. Russell on Glandovey and Mr J. J. Morris on Greyhawk); Miss B. Stringer on Dundee. Miss K Smith on Gipsy Dancer, Miss B. Gunn on Tiny, Miss E. Grant on Colleen. Messrs S. McKay on Dictator. T. Dickson on Life’s Ambition. J. Fogo on Diana. L. Hunt on Marquis. R. James on Captain Ewing, A. Powell on Long Jim. A. Leach on Osculate, G. Kirk on Swagman, M. Nichol on Punch, J. Richards on Joy Boa. A. Percy (Alexandra) on Heather, I, Pollock on Johnny Walker. K. Scurr on Linton. J. Morris on Mae West. Night Scout also qualified. In order to assist the Mosgiel Red Cross Committee a six-furlong flat race was held after the hunt on Mr D. Connor’s private track. There were 11 entries in this event, which created a good deal of interest and provided an excellent finish. The result of the sprint was as follows:- Glandovey (K. Russell) 1, Drinkup (D. Shaw) 2, Robert B. (R. Brunton) 3. Also competed: Dundee (Miss B. Stringer). Colleen (Mrs W. Gorton). Swagman (Miss Grant), Magic (Miss F. Holmes), Gipsy Dancer (Miss R. Smith). Greyhawk (J, J. Morris), Life's Ambition (T. Dickson) Long Jim (R. James). Qualification Hunts Qualification runs will be held on the Wingatui Racecourse to-day, tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday. Trainers are asked to have their horses ready at 1.30 p.m.
