LARGE ESTATE LEFT
Sir George A. Cooper, the 84-year-old Hampshire land owner, who died in March, has left an estate of £3,001,027, the death duties on which amount to £1,634,103. Sir George is believed to have lent more money to the State during the last war than any other person. He bought £2,635,000 of War Loan stocks. He was practising as a solicitor in Elgin when, more than 40 years ago. he and nis wife inherited over £4,500,000 from his wife's cousin. “ Chicago Smith.” the American millionaire.
