“SWITZERLAND”
ARTISTRY ON SKATES There was a very large attendance at His Majesty’s Theatre on Thursday night, when the J. C. Williamson Company gave another wholly enjoyable performance of the entertainment which carries the appropriate title of “Switzerland.” The skating on ice of the many members of the company could, without exaggeration be termed the poetry of motion, and the artistry of Miss Megan Taylor in her graceful and effortless work in the branch of entertainment which has made her world famous was most striking. Her father, Mr Phil Taylor, features the more spectacular side of skating, and one realises that his remarkable feats which include a daring act on stilts, could only have been achieved after years of practise. While the skating of these two artists provides the highlights of the entertainment, there are many other graceful skaters -in the company, and there are some amusing turns in the vaudeville part of the programme. The lavish costuming of the various acts is one of the attractions in a highly-successful production, and the large orchestra provides the incidental music in a capable manner. There will be 1 a matinee to-day and another performance at night.
