ACCLIMATISATION IN OTAGO

COUNCIL’S MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the council of the Otago Acclimatisation Society was held last evening, the president (Mr W. G. Reid) occupying the chair. Destroyed Ducks’ Eggs A ranger of the society reported having caught a number of schoolboys destroying ducks’ eggs. He had admonished the boys himself, he stated, and had reported the matter at their school. The ranger was complimented on his action. Tapanui Anglers The Tapanui Anglers’ Association advised that a resolution had been adopted by that body expressing its approval of the present form of control of acclimatisation societies and asked the society to present a medal for competition. Gratification was expressed at the association’s resolution, and it was agreed to present the medal requested. Prohibited Area The University Council advised that It was agreeable to of the portion of the Leith in the University grounds as a prohibited area during the months of May, June, July, and August. The letter was received. Limit Suspended On the recommendation of the Angling Committee, It was agreed that the limit should be suspended for angling competitions held by the Mataura Angling Club. Chukor Wanted A request was received for a number of chukor for the Government game farm at Rotorua, and it was decided to endeavour to obtain some eggs, hatch them, and supplv the young birds to the farm.
