INTERPROVINCIAL MATCH SOUTH ISLAND ASSOCIATIONS (Per United Press Association; TIMARU, Oct. 15. The annual Interprovincial golf match, Canterbury and Westland versus Otago and Southland, wag played at the Highfield links, Timaru, to-day, and finished all square, each side winning four Foursomes and eight Singles. This is the third occasion on which the contest has been held, the first being At Shirley and the second at Oamaru.- Bach team had previously had a win in the Singles. In the afternoon J. Lehion (Otago) had the distinction of holing In one, this being the tfee shot at the Dive. The following are: the results, the Canterbury-Westland names being given first:— Foursomes G. A. CLAIR CLUB The A Grade section of the flag match for trophies presented by Mr J. F. Cardno. which was played on the St. Clair links on Saturday afternoon under somewhat boisterous conditions, was won by A. E. Jefferson, who placed the flag about 25 yards short of the nineteenth green. J. W. Delbridge, who finished about .five feet from the eighteenth hole, was In second place. By placing the flag beside the nineteenth hole. F. M. Tuck won the B Grade section, G. F. Bolwell, who finished about 25 yards short at the same hole, being second. In' the semi-finals of the Dewar Cup. F. Duthie defeated A. E. Jefferson (2 and 1) and A. G- Forbes defeated S. C. Gourley (2 and 1). D. L. .Scott defeated E. A. Bolwell (4 and 3), and R. T. Simpson defeated E. Drake (1 up) to reach the final of the Junior Cup. BELLEKNOWES CLUB The second round of the Belleknowes Club’s stroke competition for the C. R. Smith and the R. M. Wilkinson Cups was played on Saturday afternoon under conditions which were spoiled by a strong breeze. A. J. Darling, with a gross aggregate of 141, was the winner of the Smith Cup, R. N. Hood being runner-up with 143. The winner of the Wilkinson Cup was R N. Hood with the net score of 123, E. J. Olsen and L, R. Sceats tieing for runner-up with 124. PORT CHALMERS CLUB The final of the Senior Championship of the Port Chalmers Club was played on Saturday over 3S holes between R. E. Hayward and R, Arnott. the former winning 10 and 9. In the semi-final of the junior event J. Andrews beat C. McDonald 4 and 3. The winner of this match will play G. Ward in the final, in the final of the Ladies’ Championship Mrs Whitson won from Mrs Hunt with a score of 1 up. CHISHOLM PARK LADIES’ CLUB In a sealed hole match played by the week-end members of the Chisholm Park Ladies’ Club the best cards were as follows: —Miss Greenway 27—14—13. Miss Gore 27—13—14, Miss Muir 29—14—15. Miss Clark 28—12—16, Mrs Thomson 21—11 —l6, Miss Hamer 30—14—16.
