ORPHANS’ OUTING

“ TREAT ” AT FORBURY PARK Forbury Park was a scene ot great activity on Saturday afternoon, when the Dunedin Orphans’ Club gathered together all the children of the city orphanages for the purpose of giving them a treat in the open air. A programme of games and races had been arranged, and the prizes allotted to the winners were much appreciated by the children. Through the generosity of the members of the club and city firms, the 300 children present thoroughly enjoyed the refreshments provided, and the many willing helpers had a busy time attending to calls for refreshments. Each child was given a bag of wholesome eatables and sweets, and at the close of the proceedings several of the representatives of the orphanages thanked the club and the helpers for a most enjoyable day. The function, which is an annual fixture of the club, was considered to be one of the most successful for a long period of years.
