FLYING BOAT CARIBOU
ARRIVAL AT SOUTHAMPTON ROUND TRIP COMPLETED (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, Aug. 12. (Received Aug. 13, at 7 p.m.)
Imperial Airways flying boat Caribou, which arrived at Southampton yesterday after completing the 7200mile round trip to New York and back in six days, made the Atlantic crossing from Botwood to Foynes in 12 hours five minutes. The commander said the speed at times exceeded 200 miles owing to favourable wind. The Caribou did not refuel until it reached Southampton. The ship carried 721 b of mail.
