Y.W.C.A. WORLD FELLOWSHIP BAZAAR

In spite of the inclemency of the weather on Thursday a large gathering of interested friends was present at the Y.W.C.A. bazaar. This was opened at 3 o’clock by Miss Downie Stewart, who announced that the funds from this effort would be used to help to keep Miss A. M. Moncrief, M.A.. as the secretary from the New Zealand Y.W.C.A.. in China. She stated that the latest news received from Miss Moncrief was that she had been making a tour of Northern China and spending some time in Pekin and Tientsin and Cheefoo. She expected later to spend some months in Shanghai Everywhere she went she was im-' pressed with the wonderful courage and spirit of the Chinese women. Brisk business was done by the various stall-holders, who were as follows:—Miss Permin and members of the Hostel Committee (work stall). Mrs P. L. Ritchie and members of the Membership Committee (book stall) * Miss Frances Ross and members of the World Fellowship Committee (delicatessen stall); Mrs Herbert Price and members of the auxiliary (flower stall): Mrs H, D. Skinner and Mrs C. F. Fowler and members of the Activities and Health and Recreation Committees (cakes and sweets stall): Mona Mason (the Girl Citizens' stall). Afternoon tea, which was served in the cafeteria, was in the charge of Mrs J. R. Fairbairn and members iff the House and Cafeteria Committee.

During the evening competitions and fames were arranged by Mrs M. IcAughtrie and items were given by various club members.
