Mataura Presbytery The monthly meeting of the Presbytery of Mataura was held in bt. Andrew’s Hall. Gore, on Tuesday, the moderator, the Rev. F. Robertson, preS 1 : 'tbat approval be given to a call to the Rev. W. H. D. Warm, LL B. of Normanby, Taranaki, was received from the congregation of the Waikaka Valley parish. The call was sponsored by the R ev -F- B - Barton, Messrs Henry Smith, J. O. McPhail, and W. Chittock. who reported that 98 communicant members and 14 adherents had signed.—lt was agreed that provisional arrangements be made for the induction of Mr Warm on June 29 Intimation that the Rev. G D. Falconer had received and accepted a call to Eltham. Taranaki, was given by the elders of the Wyndham congregation. Mr S. Shaw stated that, while keen regret was felt at Wyndham for the departure of Mr Falconer after nine years in the district, the congregation would place no obstacle in his way.— General regret at the departure of Mr Falconer was expressed by members of the presbytery, and it was resolved that the charge be declared vacaiu. Mr Falconer stated that his farewell service would be on July 7. The Rev. J C. Loan was appointed interim moderator of the Wyndham charge. A minute of appreciation of the services of the Rev. W. H. Norton during his 10 years in the Tapanui charge was submitted and approved. A request from the Mataura session and deacons’ court for permission to dispose of a church section in Kana street was referred to the Finance Committee. The Budget Allocations Committee submitted the following amounts for full missionary giving during the coming year:—Crookston £54, Edendale £147 Gore £450, Kelso £BO. Knapdale £ll2. Mataura £230, Pukevau £llO, Riversdale £ll4, Tapanui £l5O, Waikaka £l3O. Waikaka Valley £llO, Wyndham £177, Waikaia £25, Bry-done-Redan £35. —The amounts were approved. The menace of drunken drivers was the subject of strong comment from several members, and the following resolution, to be forwarded to the Minister of Transport (Mr R. Semple), was carried: —“ Hearty congratulations from the Mataura Presbytery on your continued efforts to remove from the New Zealand roads the menace of drivers under the influence of strong drink.”
