MAGISTRATE’S LENIENT VIEW cPer United Press Association! NEW PLYMOUTH, June 8. “Apparently no one wants to send this man out of the country,” said the magistrate (Mr W. H. Woodward) in the New Plymouth Court this morning, when John McCauley, a 20-year-old Glasgow man, appeared for sentence on a charge of deserting from the steamer Trojan Star on May 13. McCauley declared that he had people looking after him, and on this assurance the magistrate convicted and discharged him.
