WINTER SHOW

INTEREST MAINTAINED SMALL DECREASE IN TAKINGS COMPETITION RESULTS Although there was naturally a slackening off in the attendance at the Winter Show of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society yesterday after the large crowds of the King's Birthday holiday, there continues to be a good deal of public interest in this annual exhibition of the wealth of the province. Both the primary and the secondary industries are represented by the best of their production, while the business community has also taken full advantage of this opportunity to display its wares, with the result that the show is a very fine one, indeed. The takings so far are slightly below last year's figures, and in this respect a detailed comparison is interesting. The comparative figures are as follows: 1939 1938 £ s. d. £ s. d. First day .. 137 7 0 173 7 6 Second day .. 311 0 0 324 12 6 Third day .. 594 3 6 654 0 0 Fourth day .. 158 6 6 193 6 6 Total to date 1200 17 0 1345 6 6, WOOL-CLASSING The wool-classing competitions I for the Watson Shennan Memorial Cup and for Messrs Ross and Glendining'S special trophy were concluded yesterday.
