DISPUTE ON MAUI PQMARE I ■ • i . * i CREW’S COMPLAINT REJECTED \ t; (Per; United Press Association) \ WELLINGTON, May 17. Owing to an objection by some members of the crew to a cargo of deck timber, the departure of the Government vessel Maui Ppmare for Apia, Niue, and the Kermadecs was delayedfrom 4 p.ni. yesterday till 1.10 p.mi to-day. ’ . . ■ The crew’s complaint was Invest!-, gated by an official of the Seamen’s Union last night; and he reported there was no reasonable grouhid for the coniplaint. The timber, hpwr ever, was removed to the wharf, but objection was taken to its removal by the clerks and the vessel did not sail. • ■ This morning, Mr Walsh, of the Seamen's Union, addressed the crew and said;the union would not countenance i frivolous stoppages. The crew then agreed to sail and the timber was reshipped on to the vessel. ; 4 The Acting-Native Minister; (Mr H. G. R. Mason) to-day inspected the ship to satisfy himself that the conditions were not unreasonable.
