OTAGO CLUB The first round of a four-ball handicap knock-out competition was played on the Balmacewen course on Saturday, the results being as follows: D. M. Irvine and I. Carr beat J. G. Dick and E. G. Boddy 1 up, J. C. Shand and J. W. Smeaton beat J. R. Paterson and I. S. Cantrell 1 up. All the other competitors had byes into the second round. ST. CLAIR CLUB In the semi-finals of the four-ball knockout competition Jefferson and Strang beat McGhie and Rackley 4 and 2, and Anderson and Templeton defeated Drake and Penman 2 and 1. The final of this event was won by Jefferson and Strang, who beat Anderson and Templeton 3 and 2. The pair’s bogey match resulted In a draw between Rhodes and Dobbie and E. W Bolwell and Duthie,- who each returned cards of all square. The best cards returned were as follows:—Rhodes and Dobbie all square. E. W. Bolwell and Duthie all square. Luff and Templeton 3 down, Ross and Burn 3 down, Clayton and Wolstenholme 3 down, A. G. Wren and Cardno 4 down, Clark and Marett 5 down. Benie and Simpson 5 down. Wrather and Matthews 6 down. CHISHOLM PARK CLUB A medal match in connection with the first round of the Trengrove Cup was played at Chisholm Park on Saturday. The winner was K. Melville with a score of 43-12-31. PORT CHALMERS CLUB The L.G.U. medal match at Port Chalmers was played in ideal conditions. The best scores were returned bv; —Miss Brotherston 86—27—59, Mrs Hunt 87—18—69, Miss M. Campbell 105—36 —69, Mrs Lawson 93—20 —73. Miss Milnes 110—36 —74. Miss Brotherston earned a big reduction in her handicap, returning a gross score of 86.
