CLAIM FOR DAMAGES
YOUTH KILLED IN COLLISION ACTION BROUGHT BY FATHER (Per United Press Association > WELLINGTON, June 1. Charles Thomas Holden, the father, claimed £5539 3s 6d in the Supreme Court to-day from Kenneth Daniel Melvin, owner and driver of the van which was involved in a collision at Hataitai which resulted in the death from injuries of Charles Thomas Holden, aged 16 years, on August 18 of last year. The statement of claim said that the deceased was riding a borrowed motor cycle and alleged negligence on the part- of the defendant on various grounds, including failure to keep as far to the left as possible and attempting to turn to the right in the face of oncoming traffic when it was unsafe to do so.
The defence alleges that the accident was due to negligence on the part of the deceased and that he had the last opportunity of avoiding the collision. The case is proceeding.
