MILITARY RIFLE SHOOTING

SATURDAY’S RESULTS On Saturday morning the Area II military rifle meeting was commenced on the Pelichet Bay range. The overcast sky made shooting conditions rather difficult. Although this is the first area meeting to be held since 1927, it is hoped in future to make it an annual event. The contest was divided Into three series—A series being open to all ranks of the territorial force and senior cadets of 17 years of age and over; B series for cadets under the age of 17 years; and C series (Lewis, Vickers and Hotchkiss gun teams) to territorials. There were 68 entries for series A and 185 for series B. Major R. Fraser was the A series chief range officer and series B was under Lieutenant I. H. Johnson’s charge. The meeting is to be completed next Saturday. The following were the results of the day’s shooting:— SERIES A Match I; Application 200 Yards C. H. Wilson (14th Battery) 34, 12s 6d; H. A.
