GRAVE ORDEAL IN GERMANY AUSTRIAN BISHOPS' SYMPATHY LONDON, Dec. 6. The Vienna representative of The Times says the annual conference of Roman Catholic Bishops m Austria sent a message to their German colleagues saying: "In this time of grave ordeal for the Catholic faith, to which Catholic clergy and Catholics generally in the German Reich are exposed, we Austrian bishops see ourselves impelled to express our deepest sympathy and say how much we are affected by that which is happening in Germany, where the State is systematically and incessantly proceeding with the use of force to extremes in order to eliminate and repress Christian religion and meets all active resistance with new penalties and persecution."
