"BLOOMS HERALD DEATH"
TO THE EDITOR Si r _in this morning's Daily Times there is an article under the heading " Blooms Herald Death." As I have known this tree since it was planted by the late Mr George Mondy some 35 or more years ago. I wish to correct the statement that it is only -Jo Dictionary says that the aloe is a lenge genus of liliaceous olants chiefly of South African origin, whilef'the "yucca" (not yacca) is a genus of American liliaceous plants. I have a " yucca " in my own garden which has bloomed and, like "Johnny Walker" is "still going strong. I take it therefore, that the plant under discussion is a "South African aloe. -I am, etc., Veritas. Mosgiel, December 7.
