MISS JEAN BATTEN

GUEST AT COCKTAIL PARTY IN HOUSE OF COMMONS LONDON, Nov. 30. The Parliamentary Air Committee entertained Miss Jean Batten at a cocktail party at the House of Commons to-night. Many members of the House of Commons and aviators were present. The chairman, Sir Murray Sueter, described Miss Batten as the most famous flying woman of our time. Miss Batten stood on a chair when replying. She said aviation in New Zealand and Australia had made tremendous strides since she first flew there in 1934. Mr Everard, chairman of the Royal Aero Club, presented Miss Batten with a gold medal, which is the highest honour which can be bestowed by the club.
