BOXING
NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL EMPIRE GAMES TEAM SELECTED (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON. Nov. 29. At a meeting of the New Zealand Boxing Council held in Wellington today, the New Zealand team to participate in the Empire Games in Sydney was selected. The members are:— Fly-weight.—H. Sheridan (Auckland). Bantam-weight.—J. Parker (Wellington). Feather-weight.—K. Moran (Auckland). Light-weight—J. Collins (Manawatu).
Welter-weight.—D. Heeney (Gisborne). Middle-weight. A. Sutherland (Southland). Heavy-weight.—R. Withell (Ashburton). All are present New Zealand titleholders, having been successful at the last New Zealand championships at Greymouth in September. Consideration was given to a report from the Pahiatua Boxing Association regarding the disqualification of Harold Reeve in his professional title bout with Ern Jacobs, who won on a foul. It was decided to disqualify Reeve for six months, his end of the purse to be forfeited.
