WEST ;TAIERI CLUB ' The final stage of No. .1 competition' and the first shoot to count for the Women's Challenge Belt were fired by the West Taieri Defence Rifle Club on Saturday. The weather was dull, with a thick haze at 300 yards, but conditions improved at 500 yards, though a strong wind made shooting difficult at 600 yards. W. Brookes, with a shoot of two possibles and a 33, headed the. day's aggregate, and also won No. 1 Competition. J< Dickie also secured a at 500 yards. The following are the scores:—

DUNEDIN DEFENCE CLUB The annual match between the Dunedin,- Defence Rifle Club and the Kaitangata Defence Rifle Club was fired on the Pelichet Bay range on Labour Day. The conditions were 14 men a-side, the 10 highest scorers to count, seven shots (two optional sighters) each at 300. 500. and 600 yards. Weather conditions were fine, but a bright light and strong frontal fishtail and cold wind made shooting conditions difficult. Several good scores were registered, notably 34 each by J. Bellaney (Kaitangata) and J. L. Benfell (Dunedin) at 300 yards. At 500 yards, R. Leslie and C. A. McNish each scored the possible, 35. At 600 yards the best scores were 32 each by R. Arbuthnot (Kaitangata) and M. W. Denton (Dunedin). M. W. Denton (Dunedin) headed the day's aggregate with 98. The totals were: Dunedin 916, Kaitangata 866. KAITANGATA DEFENCE CLUB

The Kaitangata Defence Rifle Club fired the final stage of the Lee Cup (first competition) on Saturday, the conditions being seven shots and two optional sighters each at 300 and 500 yards. At 300 yards the best scores were made by R. Lochhead (33). J. Bellanev, J. Charteris. R. Arbuthnot, and W. 'Oliver (32). At 500 yards R. McCrostie scored a possible (35), J. F. Morgan 33, R. Lochhead. R. Kitto, and R. Thomson 32. On the day's shoot R. Lochhead scored the highest total with 65.

The following are the leading scores: R. Lochhead 131, R. Kitto 130, H. L. Morgan 130, R. Arbuthnot 130.

CROMWELL DEFENCE^CLUB <* - ~ ' The Cromwell Defence Rifle Club held a shoot at the 300 yards and 500 yards ranges on Saturday. The following are the results:—

The shoot-off at 500 yards between V Parcell and W. Webb for Major Johnson's trophy was won by Parcell with a score of 45, Webb scoring 42.
