—• ♦" ■ BOARD'S MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Vincent Hospital Board was held in the Vincent County office last Wednesday, there being present: Messrs J. Ritchie (chairman), D. S. Middleton, W. Jelley, S. A. Stevens. C. Weaver, W. Bringans. J. McKnight, and G. T. Alexander. Dr Brown also attended. Motions of sympathy were passed with Mr W. Bringans in the deatn of his sister. Mrs Dewar, and with Mrs Ashworth and family in the death of Mr A. Ashworth. The Prime Minister (Mr M. J. Savage) wrote expressing his personal gratitude for the magnificent response by local authorities and public bodies to his request in connection with the appeal for the King George V National Memorial Fund. tt ia . The Director-general of Health advised that arrangements had been completed with the New Zealand branch of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons for selected members to examine and report on the surgical work done in the public hospitals of the Dominion, and asking the board •to arrange for its medical superintendents to complete a special report form, and that the inspectors be afforded every assistance and facility to complete their inspection.—The board agreed to co-operate. The Palmerston North Hospital Board forwarded for the board's information copies of letters despatched to the Minister of Health (Mr P. Fraser) and the Hospital Boards' Association asking the Minister to protect districts situated in a similar position to theirs in respect of the treatment of patients from outside districts and soliciting the board's support in ensuring that obvious injustice is. not done should the proposal to repeal section 92 of the Hospitals Act. 1926. be proceeded with. —Received. , „ The Southland Hospital Board forwarded a claim for £45 6s* for maintenance of Vincent district patients in Southland institutions. The Haast Pass Medical Association returned for completion by the board the agreement guaranteeing the payment of 8s per day for in-patient treatment of its members in the board's hospitals and other charges at full rates for one years as from August 1. The matron, Dunstan Hospital, reported that during September 13 patients were admitted, 16 were discharged, and 10 were in hospital at the end of the month. The matron, Cromwell Hospital, reported that during September 24 patients were admitted, 27 were discharged, and 14 remained at the end of the month. The resignation of Sistey M. G. Nelson from the staff of the Cromwell Hospital Maternity Annexe was accepted with regret, and a motion thanking her for past services was carried. , , .
