TOURIST CRUISES
RECORD SEASON EXPECTED TEN VESSELS FROM OVERSEAS (Special to Daily Times) AUCKLAND, Oct. 25. The season for the visit to New Zealand of large cruising liners with overseas tourists will open in Auckland on Friday next with the arrival of the 23,371-ton Orient liner Orion with visitors from Australia and England. The arrival of this modem luxury liner, the first visit of which here last October drew huge crowds on visits of inspection, should auspiciously open the cruising season, which from the number of vessels concerned and the passengers carried will easily eclipse all previous records. The Tourist Department has arranged comprehensive itineraries for large parties at the major tourist resorts in the North Island. Eight vessels, one of which will make two visits, are scheduled to visit New Zealand from Australia Following the Orion, the Strathmore will 1 , arrive in Auckland on November 19, the Strathaird on December 17, the Orford on December 23, the Jervis Bay on December 28, the Otranto on January 7. the Strathnaver on January 28, the Oronsay on February 4, and the Strathmore on March 11. Then there are the German liners Bremen and Reliance, which are due to arrive in Auckland on April 7 and April 14 respectively on world cruises.
