CHARGE OF ASSAULT
A YOUTH ARRESTED WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 24. A telephone message \yas received by the police at Petone at 7 o’clock this morning to the effect that a woman had been assaulted the previous night and was in hospital. At 8 o’clock, Harold Thompson, aged 18, a labourer, was arrested by Senior Sergeant Wade and Constable G. E. King at Ngahauranga, and later in the morning he appeared before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., charged with assaulting Mrs Elizabeth Frances Lark so as to cause actual bodily harm. He was remanded to appear at Petone on November 1. It is understood that the alleged assault occurred about 11 p.m. in a house in Fitzherbert street, Petone, where Mrs Lark and Thomson were boarders. Her condition is reported at the hospital to be serious. She was still unconscious to-day.
