DUNEDIN DEFENCE CLUB , , j.■ * , The Dunedin Defence Rifle Club ;shot the first competition for the president’s trophy and prices presented by Mr W. Facer on Saturday afternoon. There was an attendance of .13 and seven shots (two optional" sighters) each were fired at 300 yards . and 500 yards. Weather conditions were dull, with threatened rain, and. no doubt affected the attendance. Dull light and a moderate breeze from the right required watching. Several good scores were registered, notably 33 each by R. A. Mackie and C. Gamble, at 300 yards, and 35, the possible, by J. E. Benfell and A. G. Parker at 500 yards. C.
