UNIVERSITY The University Club held its trials at Wingatui on Saturday, members jogging one lap to try the obstacles and racing the second lap. From a slow start L. W. Woods drew away at the sod wall ;>nd maintained a wide lead to win comfortably from Pilling and Dorman. with R. S. Anderson in fourth place. The following is the team for next Saturdav:—L. W. Woods, D. Foord. R. G. Pilling, T. E. Dorman, R. S. Anderson. A. L. Bryant, C. L. T. Cowan, W. A. Russell, R. H. Wade. Emergencies: T. C. Fraser and I. Whitehead. DUNEDIN The Dunedin Harriers held their Three-mile Championship and Sealed Handicap at St. Kilda. Nine runners faced the starter, Mr It. Thompson. The course was from Scout Hall along Victoria road, making a turning at Bird street up through the lupines on to Lovers' lane towards St. Kilda; thence up the lane towards Anderson's Bay Cemetery and back in the direction of St. Kilda, where the finish was held at Onslow House. L. Hill and F. Mouat led out along Victoria road from J M'Laren, W. M'Leod. ind T, M'Donnell. Then, on reaching Lovers' lane. Mouat was leading M'Laren, Hill, and M'Leod. At St. Kilda M'Laren, who was running freely, shot to the front, and was not headed Turning out of Lovers' lane at the -cemetery, the head wind was troublesome, and slowed the pack J. M'Laren was out 880 yards ahead of Mouat on Tomahawk road with M'Leod close on Mouat's heels. Passing Tahuna Park. J. M'Laren was going strongly, with W. M'Leod and F. Mouat running together. M'Laren won by half a mile, with M'Leod 100 yards ahead of Mouat and Hill.

The placings were as follows: M'Laren 1, M'Leod 2, Mouat 3, Hill 4, M'Donnell and Williams 5. In the sealed handicap M'Leod. Mouat, and Hill occupied the first three places. CAVERSHAM The Caversham Club held its Edmond Cup Trial at Wingatui, a good field of 35 facing the starter. From a slow start, G. R. Colston went into the lead, followed by Austin, Gerric, and Donovan, with the rest of the field well bunched. Colston kept in front throughout, and led Austin home by 50 yards, with Barr in third place, another 20 yards further back, then came Gerrie, Sadler, and Bartlctt. The following teams will represent the club in the Edmond Cup next week:—No. 1: Colston, Austin, Barr. Gerrie, Sadler, Bartlett, L. Hebbard, J. MadcJocks. L. K Donovan George. Butterfield LEITH On Saturday the Leith Club held its run from Jamieson Hall, Maori Hill. The pack, which was the smallest that has turned out this season, left under the control of Captain J. C. Thomson. The trail led down Balmacewen road to the Wakari power-house. The road was then followed up past Ashburn Hall. A track to the left was followed until Fraser's Gully was reached. A fast run was held down the gully until the tram sheds were reached, and after ascending Falcon street a steady run was maintained down Highgate until Oban street was reached. Here

CIVIL SERVICE The Civil Service Club held its Edmond Cup Trial at Wingatui, and 25 runners faced the starter, Mr J. Hoy. The field got away to a slow start owing to the heavy going in the straight, and at the sod wall Barnes was leading from Geddes, Greany, and Asher. Throughout the first lap, which was run at a steady pace, the positions were almost unchanged, and with the first lap finished the order was: N. Greany, Geddes, Barnes, Asher, and Coutts. Although the pace was increased slightly in the last lap, the field remained practically unchanged, and the final result was: Geddes 1, Barnes 2, Asher 3, L. Greany 4. The following team has been selected to represent the club in the Edmond Cup next week: A. R. Geddes, N. Greany. J. Asher. L. Greany, D. Whittleston, N Coutts, W M'Kinnon, A. Kirkwood, L. M'Millan, and K. Baird. The club members who did not compete in the trials held a club run from St. Kilda under the control of S. Longworth. The trail led along the road past Tahuna Park, through the Tainui School to Spottiswoode street, and down through Tomahawk to the beach, where a short relay race was held, Broadly showing up well. The pack returned by way of Tomahawk and Lovers' lane. The two youngest members, Bradshaw and Asher, ran well throughout. HANOVER BAPTIST Under extremely wintry conditions a fair number of Hanover Baptist members turned out for the weekly run under Club Captain S. Gibson and Deputy H. D. Benfell. From the George Street School the runners proceeded along George street and turned up Pine Hill road at the Gardens. A good pace was set until Pine Hill was reached. The trail led over the summit and down through thick gorse and

scrub. From here the trail opened on to the Leith Valley road, where a steady pace was maintained for the run home. T. Bilson, with his usual fine burst of speed, was first man m, closely followed by H. D. Benfell and E. I. Meggett, who also showed good form
