DUNEDIN COMPETITIONS
ATTRACTIVE SYLLABUS An attractive syllabus has been compiled for the thirty-sixth annual festival of the Dunedin Competitions Society, which will be held from August 18 to September 4. Entries will close on Wednesday. June 23. Through the generosity of several public-spirited citizens and firms, th'e society has been able to include again several special attractions, including a grand opera aria contest with prizes amounting to £BO and a Gilbert and Sullivan light or comic opera contest for prizes totalling £SO. Elocutionary, instrumental, and vocal scholarships, choir contests, half-hour entertainments, 20 to 30minute plays, and ballets _ are other features of the syllabus, all in addition to the usual classes. Large entries are anticipated, and it is expected that a large number of competitors from outside of Dunedin will enter for the aria contest and other special attractions. Competitors are reminded that entries close on Wednesday next. The syllabus and entry forms are obtainable at Begg's or from the secretary.
