OTAGO HUNT CLUB
MEET AT BLACK BRIDGE Favoured by ideal weather conditions the weekly run of the Otago Hunt Club was held on Saturday at Black Bridge, North Taieri, over the properties of Messrs D. Leishman, J. Skinner, D. Connor, and Mrs A. K. Miller. The first part of the' hunt was over the same course as the point-to-point meetings have been held for the last three years. The club is indebted to Mrs Miller for the use of her property, which contained several good obstacles, including a water jump which proved very tricky. The going was exceptionally heavy, and this, no doubt, accounted for the indifferent display of jumping. There were numerous falls throughout the hunt, but neither riders nor horses were injured. The best performances were registered by Miss D. Mowat's Spanker, ridden by Mr R. James, and Mr James Richards's mount, Samson. Mr S. M'Kay's Rane,, ridden by Mr J. Dick, and Mr W. Muirhead's Kim also jumped well. At the conclusion of the hunt afternoon tea was dispensed at the residence of Mr D. Connor. Before departing, the master (Mr J. E. Brunton) thanked the property owners and Mr and Mrs Connor for assisting with the refreshments. Those who followed were: The master (Mr J. E. Brunton) on King Vidor, the acting deputy master (Mr J. Dick) on Rane, the huntsman (Mr R. Harvey) on Blackthorne, the whip (Mr James Richards) on Samson, the honorary whip (Mr J. J. Morris) on Academy, Mrs W. Gorton on Rainbow, Miss M.
