Thirty-two bodies have been recovered and 100 more are possibly dead as the result of the collapse of a dam burying the town of Tlalpujahua, Michoacan. Mud and sand from the metal and cyanide workings of the Dos Estrellas Mining Company and heavy rains overtaxed the dam. Seven hundred dwellings were engulfed. The disaster occurred at 3 o'clock in the morning, when the inhabitants were asleep.
