BY EIGHT WICKETS

CAMBRIDGE DEFEATED FINE INNINGS BY WALLACE MOLONEY GETS THE AVERAGE (From the special correspondent of the United Press Association with the New Zealand cricket team.) CAMBRIDGE, May 27. Fraser, a slow left-hander, threatened a collapse for New Zealand, but Wallace, hitting 10 fours and a six, made a superb stand, giving a stylish display of footwork, ondrives and square cuts. He made a rock-like defence and saved the day, assisting to take the score from four for 46 io 135. There was a tense situation when 10 runs were wanted to equalise the University score. Cowie stonewalled while Wallace collared the bowling, scoring 40 out of the last-wicket stand of 41. Cambridge opened its second innings with dogged determination, Payton and Yardley taking 80 minutes for five runs. Then there was a lapse in the fielding, Payton giving chances of Gallichan and Moloney. The wicket was now perfect, and Moloney took the next five wickets with 11 balls.

Page, with forceful driving, hit four fours and, assisted b* Moloney and Hadlee, succeeded in scoring the necessary runs with delightful cricket, for New Zealand to win by eight wickets in an hour and aquarter.
