HIMALAYAN PEAK
CLIMBED FOR FIRST TIME BRITISH EXPLORER'S SUCCESS SIMLA, May 28. (Received May 28, at 11.15 p.m.) It is reported from Kalimpong that a 30-year-old British explorer, F. Spencer Chapman, climbed Chonolhari, a 23,930-feet Himalayan peak on the Bhutan-Tibet border. It was hitherto believed that the peak could not. be climbed. He was accompanied by only one native porter.
