CANADIAN DEFENCE
THE POLICY DEFENDED OTTAWA, Feb. 16. The Prime Minister (Mr Mackenzie King) defending the 35,000,000-doilar defence policy against the Commonwealth Federation’s want of confidence, declared: “ We are not preparing for war or fulfilling any commitments to Britain.” The Minister for Defence, Mr Mackenzie, declared that the plan was designed solely to make the country’s defences efficient. "Government concern over Quebec, wan cleared with the declaration by Mr Maxine Raymond that the French-Canadian members would unitedly support Canada in defence, but insisted on a definite understanding on European commitments.
