A GRAVE ILLNESS
HARLEY STREET SPECIALIST, NATIVE OF NEW ZEALAND LONDON, June 9. (Received June 10, at 0.15 a.m.) The Daily Mail says; “A New Zealander, Mr Henry Philbrick Nelson, a Harley street specialist and one of the leading experts on hu g surgery, whose skill has saved hundreds of lives, is lighting desperately for life. His career has been ended as the result of pricking a left-hand finger while performing a difficult operation at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, of which he is honorary surgeon. His arm has beer, amputated. His wife is living at the hospital and refuses to leave his bedside. The finger quickly beejme swollen, giving evidence of septiciemia, and the only hope of preventing the poison Loin spreading was to remove the arm. He is still gravely ill. Previously he was instructor in surgery at Michigan University Hospital.”
