BALCLUTHA Ciutha Ram Fair The ram fair under the auspices of the Ciutha and Matau A. and P. Society, held on the Balclutha Show Ground yesterday, attracted a large attendance of sheep breeders and others. There was an entry of 580 rams, made up of 432 Romney Marsh. 64 Border Leicesters, 62 Southdowns, 18 Ryelande, and four Corriedales. The demand was much better than at last year’s fair, and the passings were very few. Top prices were reached r in the Romney stud class —viz., 24igns for. a one-shear stud ram sold on behalf tff Mr Adam King, Stony Creek, by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, the purchaser being Mr A. V. King, of Clydevale. Wright, Stephenson, and Co. sold oh account of the same breeder a one-shear ram at 19igns. The next best price fdr studs waa 12gna, got by Donald Reid and Co. for a one-shear ram offered on account of Mr S. W. Moffat, of Te Houka. Prices for flock rams ranged up to 12gne, got by the Otago Farmers’ Co-operative Association for two one-ehear rams offered on account of -Mr W. A. Moffat, of Te Houka. Other good prices for Romney rams were: 9igne on account Thomas Lochhead (Balclutha); lligns, llgns, 9|gns account Thomas Lochhead (Te Houka); 7fgns, account Eric Shirley (Clinton); 9|gns, Signs account W. A. Moffat (Te Houka); 7-jgns, account W. E. Moffat (Te Houka); Bgns, account ■ Charles Dallas (Te Houka); 9Jgns, Sens, i 7|gns, account Adam King (Stony Creek); 7|gns, 6|gns, Signs,. account 0. R. Throp (Te Houka); s|gns, account R. P. Kirk. (Kelso); Signs, account Lawlor Bros. (Gore). Southdown rams sold well, the best prices being realised on account E. M. Coleman (Balclutha), Signs, 7igns, Signs, Signs, 71gns; on account R. ■, Lochhead. (Balclutha), 7igns; on account Oliver,; Grey (Lovell’s Flat), 6fgns; account' D. Morgan (Te Houka), Signs, Signs. The top price for Leicesters was 7igns.
