SOUTHDOWN INJURED AGAIN
(Special to Daily Times; CHRISTCHURCH, March 5. Like other parts of the district, the Banka Peninsula Racing Clubs course at Motukarara was soft after recent ram, but has dried up since the weather cleared. Provided no more rain falls, the race track should provide excellent going for Saturday's racing. The Dunedin owner Mr C. N. Draper was a visitor to Riccarton this morning to see his two-year-old Gustos gallop. Th<> colt, who went well in a half-mile eprint, looks in great order for Trentham, after which he may go on to Awapuni. Southdown met with a mishap a few davs ago and is having a rest at present. Hounslow waft given a turn over the brush hurdles this week with 11. Turner in the saddle, and shaped very well. Tic is in cood order to start soon on his education as a steeplechaser. Monastic, Haere Tonu, Note Issue and Sisterina all went attractively over the brush hurdles this week. Polygraph is the latest addition to the team of D. O'Connor, who will make an early start to try the gelding out for hurdle racing. Kemal Pasha, who has been on the idle list for some time as a result of leg troubles, has been in light exercise lately, but so far has' had no fast work. Fie will not be racing at Trentham. but .D. O'Connor hopes to have him in action again at the Oamaru and South Canterbury meetings later in the month.
