BRAZILIAN REVOLT

ENDED BY PITCHED BATTLE PRESIDENT LEADS LOYALISTS (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) RIO DB JANEIRO, November 28. (Received Nov. 28, at 9 p.m.) An official Government announcement declared that the revolt had ended, but not until a sanguinary pitched battle, fought in a fashionable residential area of the city, settled the issue, with loyalist forces having to put down armed resistance in several places throughout the nation. A picturesque and disquieting touch was given to the entire revolutionary movement when aviation, infantry, and artillery cadet units joined the rebels. Bombing planes and artillery were enlisted against the rebels and aerial bombs were dropped on the barracks of the aviation school, which ere destroyed, besides much other property. Many are reported to have been killed and several hundred rebels captured, though large numbers are said to have escaped in aeroplanes and steamers. President Vargas led the loyalist army in person. To-night he said not a single rebel under arms was left in all Brazil.
