VERDICT OF ACQUITTAL

CHARGES AGAINST CLERK (Per United Press Association) NAPIER, October 31. The jury to-day acquitted Charles Philp Dolbel on charges of forgery, uttering, and the theft of £3 3s from the Hawke's Bay Hospital Board. Dolbel, aged 30, who was a clerk in the employ of the Hospital Board, pleaded not guilty. The case arose out of blood transfusions given by the accused for hospital use. The Crown alleged that Dolbel, who had been in the habit of Riving transfusions, had made alterations m the' date of. a document authorising him to receive payment so that it could be regarded as authority for two payments. The defence was that the accused had committed an act of carelessness. He said he was unable to trace the authority for which he had received payment and he obtained a duplicate authority, but he had no recollection of altering the date.
