POLISH PILOT'S FLIGHT WARSAW TO AUSTRALIA (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) WARSAW, October 21. Captain Stanislau Karpinski, the famous Polish ace, has started his first hop to Bagdad on a flight to Australia. BROADBENT BACK IN LONDON LONDON, October 21. On his arrival at Croydon Mr Broad bent said he left Basra 60 to 65 hours ahead of Brookes and Cathcart-Jones. Ho was confident of reaching Athens non-stop, but his engine failed 20 miles out, necessitating a forced landing, in wbich the undercarriage was damaged. (Received Oct. 22, at 10 p.m.) Pan-American Airways was the only bidder to-day for' the post office contract to carry mails between the United States and China, via Honolulu and Manila. They asked for two dollars a statute mile, with a specified load of 8001 b and a dollar a pound for excess load for each thousand miles.
