THE DUNEDIN TRAINING COLLEGE
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —A great many Dunedin people will vote at the forthcoming election according to whether or not the Government reopens the Dunedin Training College. The reopening of the Training College is a very small matter compared with many things which the Government has had to decide. About these bigger things, I am not competent to judge whether the decisions have been just or unjust, or whether or not in the ultimate interests of the country. About the Training College, however, I am able to judge that its decision is unjust, and it ie reasonable to judge a Government by ite unjust decisions in small things. A Government is generally credited with keeping its ear to the ground and knowing the pulse of the people, but in the matter of the Training College it appears to be unaware of the real feeling of the Dunedin people. Possibly it is unconcerned as to those feelings, for is there not evidence that the Government regards this part of the Dominion as of relatively little importance compared with the growing north? If justice and weight of evidence carry no weight with the Government, then it is fortunate that the people have an early opportunity of expressing their views ot their present political rulers.—l am, etc., October 22. Nemesis.
