A light south-west wind and fine weather prevailed yesterday, following light showers in the early part of the morning. The maximum temperature was 47 degrees. The barometer had a falling tendency, and registered 29.88 at 4 p.m. REPORTS FROM THE NORTH. (Special to Daily Times) AUCKLAND, July 24. A strong north-east wind, with frequent heavy rain squalls, was experienced this morning. Towards mid-day the weather became fine, but the evening was cloudy and threatening. The barometer fell .50in from midnight to 4 p.m., and afterwards was steady. WELLINGTON, July 24. The weather to-day was cold, squally, and wet, with a strong southerly wind. Rain fell almost continuously. The maximum temperature was 45.8 degrees. CHRISTCHURCH, July 24.

The weather to-day was fine, with a very light south-west breeze and a maximum temperature of 4G.5 degrees. There was a frost of 6.5 degrees. The barometer, after falling slightly, is now steady, is 29.88 in.
