CITY OF INVERCARGILL
INTERESTING COMPARISONS At the end of the balance sheet of the Invercargill City Council was a table containing many interesting facts concerning the city. At the outset it was mentioned that Invercargill was founded in 1856, was constituted a town board in 1861, made a borough in 1871, and was proclaimed a city in 1930. The city area is now 5627 acres.
