ANOTHER DELUGE
FLOODS AT WHANGAREI FOURTH VISITATION" IN THREE MONTHS. (Peb United Press Association) WHANGAREI, March 12. Torrential rain, amounting to over four inches and a-half in several areas during the 24 hours to 9 o'clock this morning, caused heavy flooding in the far north for the fourth time within the last three months, though of lesser extent and seriousness than on the previous occasions. The severest effect was felt at Kaeo, which is completely isolated for the time being. A wide sweep of the Mangakahia district is under nine feet of water, and all other routes to further north centres are impassable. South of Whangarei conditions are also bad in places, with eight feet of water on the road between Taiphua and Mareretu. The deluge was accompanied by a violent north-east gale.
