OUTRAGE IN TOKIO
A PUBLISHER WOUNDED GASHED WITH A SWORD TOKIO, February 22. Katsusuke Nagasaki, allegedly a member of a reactionary, band, attempted, with a Japanese sword, to behead Matsutaro Shoriki, the publisher of Yomiuri, an important Tokio newspaper. Shoriki was dangerously gashed in the neck, but the Mow miraculously missed the artery, and he has a chance to recover. The motive was ostensibly anger at a Yomiuri editorial supporting the theory that the Emperor's power was only nominal. Shoriki was arrested in connection with last year's bribery cases, but was set free.
