SAWYERS’ BAY
An afternoon was held in the Sawyers Bay School in order to give parents an opportunity of viewing modern-type furniture, which is at present being installed. A competition amongst pupils for decorated tables resulted as follows: —Standards V and VI: .Ngaira Pratley 1, Vera Robertson 2., Standards 111 and IV: Rhoda M'Donald 1, Elva Brownlee 2, Phyllis M'Donald 3. Special: Moura Hornby. Standards I and II: Jane .Barclay 1. Floating bowls: Senior division— Ngaira Pratley 1, Vera Robertson 2; junior division— Marjorie Paine 1. Elva Brownlee 2, Moura Hornby .3. Competition- for marksmanship: Kevin Cusack 1. ■ In a lawn tennis match between Sawyears’ Bay and Purakanui Clubs the former won by 69 games to 48 games. A match between Sawyers’ Bay Club and the-Anglican Club resulted: Sawyers Bay 65 games, Anglican 45 games.
