PARACHUTE JUMPER
Dunedin residents will have an opportunity of seeing Bernard W. Skinner, a parachute jumper, at the Otago aerodrome on Sunday. Mr Skinner has been making parachute descents since 1928, and has over 250 jumps to his credit. In 1930 he broke the world’s record for a free fall with a drop of 8800 ft before opening his parachute. The jump was from an altitude of 15,000 ft. While visiting this city on his way to the Antarctic with the Byrd Expedition last year, Mr Skinner promised to make a parachute descent at the local aerodrome'upon his return, and now he is here to make good his promise. If the weather is stormy, the descent will be made next Sunday.
