THE SHIPPING DISPUTE
WAIMARINO NOW IDLE SEVEN VESSELS LAID UP (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 19. The only development to-day in connection with the hold-up of shipping at Wellington was the addition of the cargo steamer Waimarino to the list of six Union Company ships already idle because of the dispute between the Cooks and Stewards’ Union and the company. It is reliably stated that the company has been. able to find a cook for the Waimarino. The Wahine was late in departing for Lyttelton. It is understood that a member of the crew was missing and had to be replaced. A meeting of officials of the Union Company took place this afternoon, but no further statements were issued, either by the company or the union. PASSENGERS DIVERTED/ . TO JOIN WANGANELLA. (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, June 19. Over 200 passengers who had booked to leave Wellington for Sydney by the Monowai, which £as been withdrawn from commission owing to the cooks’ and stewards’ dispute, arrived from Wellington by train this morning to join the Wanganella. To cope with the 200 additional passengers three special carriages were included on the ordinary express from Wellington. The Taranaki express was not joined to it at Taumarunui as is usual, but proceeded to Auckland as a separate train.
