DOCTOR SEEKS ADVICE POISON FOUND IN FOOD. LONDON, May 25. The old question, “Should a Doctor Tell?” is raised again in The Lancet. An unnamed doctor discovered poison in the food and medicine of a patient, who said she suspected that her husband was poisoning her. The doctor refused to inform the police until ho had consulted the Medical Protection Society, which advised that the rules of professional secrecy might be relaxed in the circumstances. Thereafter the doctor got the patient from her house, and informed Scotland Yard. A prosecution followed. The Lancet comments that the doctor was in the same position as one who sees a patient’s house being entered hv burglars.
