The Evening News., says .that LRA. gunmen tried to blow, up the.. war memorial in Armagh City. Before daybreak they crossed the frontier in a. car, bringing hand mines. 'They called at the house of Dr Woods, telling him that he was wanted at an-urgent-case, and then, covering him with "revolvers, compelled him to.stand by during .the "explosion- lest the gunmen were injured. The granite steps were destroyed. The other mine failed to explode, .leaving the great figure of;; Victory uninjured. The explosion rocked. Arinagh, rousing the inhabitants.
