CAVERSHAM SCHOOL COMMITTEE

The monthly meeting of the Caversham School Committee was held on. Monday and was attended by Mr T. A. Browu (in the chair), Messrs Todd. Pemberton, Stirling, Hollows, Hudson, Allen, Friend, Sherlock, Felton and the headmaster. The report on the annual school picnic held at Outram recently showed that the function had been a very successful and enjoyable outing, some 250 children and 115 adults making the trip. During the preceding week the committee met and presented Mrs Doig, who severed her connection with this school recently after nine years' service in the infant department, with a travelling clock as a mark of appreciation of her work. The tender of the Education Board for the erection of suitable bookcases for containing the new school reference library was accepted. The headmaster's report showed a total roll of 651' children, with an. average attendance of 640. It was decided to write to the Education Board with a view to securing coke furnaces in lieu of register grates, in the infant rooms.
